I grew up in a little Cheshire village called Dunham Massey. My mother was a domestic science teacher & I flourished amidst swiss rolls and fabric and was encouraged to make felt animals as soon as ‘Helen’ could get me to grasp a needle. I studied surface pattern in Yorkshire & had my first very small business called ‘Delilah’s Earwigs’ designing wallpaper and fabric. After discovering Grizelda Pollock I added some thinking to my life with a History of Art degree in Leeds.

I had a yearning to live by the sea, most probably the result of having 7 great, great, truly fantastic sailor uncles and due to childhood memories of Anglesey, traipsing around Church Island on the Menai Straits, looking for my descendants. So I somehow ended up in a small coastal village called Borth in West Wales, training as an art teacher, having set my heart on a house on this mad stretch of beach. 3 girls, 2 dogs, 1 parrot, 1 partner later (in another order) I was involved in an accident.

I am paralysed from the waist down, lucky to be alive and a year on I realise that I still need to be a role model, I still love art, I still need to do.

So I have a shop in a tiny Welsh cottage and I try and look for beautiful and useful things that fit into this little house with all it’s eras and history. I buy for beach houses and Welsh houses and interesting spaces and I hang art which suits the place and likes to change like the weather.

On the 1864 deeds for the cottage, is softly pencilled, ‘2 London Place’.

Borth mariners, declared their worldliness with house names, using ships and destinations to exhibit their wanderings. ‘2 London Place’ is a small independent business which tries to buy thoughtfully, supports artists, with a sprinkling of vintage but with a keen eye on modernity beyond.
